Roxanne Unitt – 29 weeks into her pregnancy.

Roxanne Unitt from Tipton, West Midlands works for Premier Education- a company providing sport and physical activity to primary schools.

The company currently offer their services to schools in the West Midlands such as Joseph Turner, St Martin’s, Ocker Hill, Bramford and Chuckery Primary.

Miss Unitt told LSJ News, how “it’s a nightmare” and that she is having to use holiday pay.

Roxanne is 29 weeks into her pregnancy and also explains, that she may have to bring her maternity leave forward or drop to sick pay as a result.

Although she has been advised that this isn’t ideal, her manager James Welland has been in contact trying to help wherever possible.

This news comes as supermarkets Tesco and Asda are offering full pay for all workers who are off due to being high-risk of contracting Covid-19.

“In 2 weeks’ time, all of us as members of staff could go on sick pay as a result of no work. It’s frustrating as we teach children and the pregnant staff working at those primary schools will get full pay whereas us we won’t get paid. We still have bills to pay.”

Premier Education has advised that they are on hand to help to take the strain off teachers but say they are struggling to find suitable work.
