‘I couldn’t find a community, so I created one.’

"Networking and personal marketing is important because when you are talking to people you are showing your identity, you are showing your vision." -Bahar Tömek

“WE are the change is going to turn into a national exchanging knowledge platform,” Bahar

The ground floor of the David Chiddick building filled with students, staff members, and local business owners, all anticipating the launch of WE are the change.

The Global Experiences team, located in Lincoln’s International Business School, started the event by 4pm on March 14. The team introduced MBA student and visionary, Bahar Tömek: “We always need more support for our ideas. I failed because I didn’t have the support I needed, which is how I am here today.”

WE are the change is a network of students, business professionals and entrepreneurs looking to aide women with their businesses in Lincoln.

Based on a UENI January 2020 UK study.

The event had four other speakers ranging from university lecturers and entrepreneurs all active in Lincoln’s business development. Each speaker shared their stories of how they met Bahar, why they support WE are the change, and what they can provide.

“You may have an idea, you may not have the confidence to work through the idea but Bahar is going to be there to support you, guide you with bits of information that you may need, and put you in touch with other people… it’s kind of an organic process,” explained Kerry Gibson, textile artist and owner of Lincoln’s Rethread Denim.

“There is mentoring, events, and legal workshops. We have many programmes, even one for businesses across all of greater Lincolnshire, where we provide support and aide for developing businesses,” said contributing speaker, Mikey Coulson, Student Enterprise Co-ordinator.

WE are the change next event is March 29 and it is open to students, staff and anyone in Lincoln who is interested in personal marketing and networking.
