Time spent surfing on the internet can be linked to depression, according to new research.

British scientists have found that the longer people stay online, the less likely they are to be happy. An online questionnaire of 1,319 people was used to assess levels of internet dependency and depression.

Some of the worst affected individuals were both addicted and depressed. But it was not made clear whether the internet causes depression or people with depression are drawn to the internet.
