Is Knife Crime reported enough?

Knife crime in Lincoln has fallen in the past year.

However 124 serious knife crime cases were reported in 2012. But only 43 of these made it to court.

City Vibe’s Emma Everitt spoke to Inspector Mark Garthwaite and asked him why charges were dropped.

“You may find that the victim for whatever reason chooses not to make a complaint. We can’t take things to court without evidence,” he said.

The police don’t know the exact number of cases that go unreported, but they are encouraging victims to go forward and report them to the force.
