The Usher gallery has held weekly Life Drawing sessions for many years, but with the current situation the tutored drawing class has been put on hold.

With precautions already in place, budding artists were excited to see models and tutors wearing visors during the sessions before lockdown.

Mrs Jenny Gleadell, Exhibition, and interpretation officer at the Usher Gallery: “We are not running life drawing during our second lockdown. We are following all government guidelines and when the museum can reopen safely, we will explore restarting life drawing within the updated covid-19 safe guidelines.”

With yet one less thing to do during lockdown, it is important to appreciate Lincoln and all it has to offer, Jenny Gleadell: “our life drawing class is a great way for us to support local people who are interested in creativity and to provide an outlet for practicing important skills in art.”

Leah McGhee, aspiring artist and Illustration Student: “It is important to remember art in general is for everyone, I have always believed that art is not a talent, it is a skill anyone can teach themselves if you just put the work into it, whether or not you are a professional, just have fun with it!”

The future of these sessions is still unknown, but you can access more information about the gallery’s covid-19 safety guidelines and contact details here.
