A view of an MMA octagon surrounded by fans

Andrew craven, 21, is an undefeated professional mixed martial arts fighter who has emerged out of Grimsby. After making the transition to professional earlier this year Andrew has been able to overcome both fights he has been faced with, winning by submission.

However, an eager Andrew is anticipating that his next opponent could be the most difficult he has faced so far. But in order to become the best, you have to beat the best; which is exactly what he intends to do.

Zi Shah is the opponent who boasts an impressive record of four wins and no losses. On the 14th December at the LG/NEC arena in Birmingham this hugely anticipated fight will come to an end. Both fighters are highly regarded in the fighting world, which is what attracted the attention of BAMMA; the largest promotion company for MMA in the United Kingdom.

Because this is the biggest arena and his highest profile fight, Andrew has a lot on the line, but will the pressure get to him? “As I get more experienced, nerves about the fight don’t tend to affect me, but I’m expecting the importance of this fight may create some anxiety.” Champions are made by overcoming adversity, whether Andrew will overcome his opponent; only time will tell. But a win here could mean that Andrew is one step closer to accomplishing his dream of fighting in the UFC, the biggest stage in mixed martial arts.

As Andrew walks towards the octagon on the 14th December he will be surrounded by a crowd of roaring fans. The adrenaline will be coursing through his body, and surely amplified by the shouts from supporters, we asked Andrew how it feels to take that long and seemingly endless walk? “If the training has gone well this is one of the best parts of the fight, to have all the music, cameras and lights shining just for you is an incredible feeling, its part of your show.”
