Lincoln Cathedral could be taking to the main stage at this years Oscars. The Young Victoria which features some scenes filmed at the famous Cathedral is nominated for ‘best art direction’. It goes up against the blockbuster Avatar, which has received an astonishing nine nominations in total.
Lincoln Cathedral serves as the setting for Westminster Abbey and was also picked as ‘the backdrop to one of the movie’s most memorable artistic scenes – the young queen’s Coronation’.
The award will focus on the overall visual presentation and display of a film. If the film does win it will offer some much needed publicity for recession hit Lincoln as it struggles with the current economic downfall.
We will have to wait until 7th March to see how The Young Victoria and Lincoln Cathedral get on.
