Apprentices at City of Lincoln Council are raising money this week to help those with Alzheimer’s. All the money will be donated to the Alzheimer’s society. Throughout the week the Apprentices are raising not only money but awareness of the charity.
On Friday 5th February the Apprentices will be visiting community centres in Bracebridge and Moorland where they will be chatting to those with Alzheimer’s. They will also be involved in interactive activities.
Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia affecting 47,000 people in the UK. All the money raised will go to the local branch of the Alzheimer’s Society to help them increase their support and care of those with Alzheimer’s.
Ali Thacker is an apprentice in Human Resources at the council. “I’m looking forward to Apprenticeship Week because it’ll give us a chance to get out into the community as a group and make a difference,” he said. “It will also be a chance to talk to people about the apprenticeship scheme at the council and the opportunities it gives to young people.”
The other aim of the week is to raise the profile of apprentices in the city and show people what they can do in their Career.
