LGBT Adoption and Fostering Week is a national awareness campaign, which calls on more same sex couples to adopt or foster a child to help tackle the growing need for foster carers and adopters in the UK.The campaign is already in its fifth year and the charity, New Social Family, has organised a series of events during the week to provide more information for prospective parents who are considering fostering or adopting a child.

Lincolnshire Fostering and Adoption Service is inviting anyone who has considered fostering or adopting a child, but thought they wouldn’t be eligible, to an information drop-in session today.

It will be held at Bracebridge Community Centre from 3pm-6pm and team members from the Lincolnshire Fostering and Adoption Service will be present to answer any queries and to provide more information on the processes involved.

Philippa Gagliano, the fostering and adoption recruitment officer at Lincolnshire County Council said: “It’s really about getting that message out there and building year upon year the confidence that actually the people from the LGBT community can foster and they can adopt.”
