A Lincoln charity, raising thousands for poorer communities, have just returned from helping provide medical needs to families in Nepal.
Lincs2Nepal, located on the High Street at Cafe Shanti, aims to improve the education and lives of children.
Recently, volunteers, two nurses and a G.P set up medical records and regular health checks for 900 children at the Lincs2Nepal school, Jeevan Jyoti.
Lincs2Nepal Founder, Garry Goddard, said: “We’ve built a relationship with their hospital. The equipment is 30 years out of date and it’s filthy, but the doctors and nurses are still doing a fantastic job.
“We take lots of small equipment for them when we visit and have an agreement so the children can be treated for free. This is going to save a lot of lives.”
They also taught local women how to make reusable, washable sanitary products which last six months, hopefully reducing the risk of infections.
The charity hopes to expand their programmes into local villages to work more with families.
