The countdown to Christmas in Lincoln will begin on this Thursday, at the annual Christmas lights switch on.

The High Street will be lit up by former ‘Allo ‘Allo! actress Vicki Michelle, who will be joined by comedian and magician Martin Daniels.

The St Marks Shopping Centre lights will be switched on by Lincoln’s very own Gary Barlow, Dan Hadfield, who is a Gary Barlow lookalike.

At St Marks Shopping Centre, there will be a Lincolnshire food inspired market from 3:30pm. There will also be on-stage entertainment from Lincs FM and local entertainer, Jay Jay, from 5:30pm.

The High Street festivities will start at 5:30pm outside the War Memorial, with a variety of entertainment from BBC Radio Lincolnshire. The stations breakfast show presenters, Scott Dalton and Carla George, will be comparing the event. This will be followed by carols and a Christmas message from the Mayor of Lincoln.

The shops on the High Street and at St Marks Shopping Centre will be open until late, marking the start of late night shopping across the city.
