Lincoln City will be in action on Sunday against Shrewsbury Town at Wembley in the final of the Checkatrade Trophy.

It is also the first time that Lincoln have made it to the final of this competition. Victory for the Imps will be the team’s first piece of silverware since clinching the National League title a year ago to gain promotion to League Two.

City will arrive in London on the back of four wins in their last five games and have won every single match in the Checkatrade Trophy this season including their penalty-shootout win over Chelsea U21’s in the Semi-Finals at Sincil Bank on February 6.

For Shrewsbury Town, they are in form with six wins in their last eight games including their Checkatrade Trophy Semi-Final win over Yeovil Town a month ago.

Lincoln City boss, Danny Cowley says that Shrewsbury will be their “toughest opponents” since the Imps’ FA Cup Quarter-Final match against Arsenal last year.

Regardless of the result this weekend, Lincoln have six games left in League Two to at least book their place in the play-offs. If they do so, they could be back at Wembley again for a chance to be playing in League One next season.
