Sports kit and equipment supplier Rhino Rugby, has announced that the company has “lost a large percentage of its stock” due to a significant fire that took place in an adjacent unit in Cardiff on Sunday night, November 8.
The company, official sponsors of the British and Irish Lions, provides kit to all of the sports teams at the University of Lincoln, as well as more than 30 rugby clubs and a number of universities across the country, told customers yesterday via email and through their website.
Managing director Dave Reynish, said in a statement, “This is devastating news for us, but we wanted to reassure our loyal customers that we have already re-ordered fast selling stock lines to minimise delay.” The brands website has estimated that new orders will take 8-10 weeks to ship. The company’s central headquarters in Cardiff was unaffected by the fire.
Abi Brown, Vice President of Activities at the University of Lincoln Students Union, said that she had “been told by Rhino that the impact on our students is minimal as they have another warehouse they can work from.”
When asked about the delays she told us; “I think it’s a maximum three-week delay which isn’t too bad considering the damage.”
The fire, which started at Topline Tyres before quickly spreading to adjoining buildings, including the Rhino warehouse, required more than 80 firefighters and 12 fire engines to get under control. Firefighters were called in from Bristol to help tackle the blaze. Residents around the area were told to “keep doors and windows closed” due to the “black, acrid smoke being given off.”

Nobody was hurt in the fire, but an investigation is underway to find out the cause of the incident.
