Lincoln’s about to be QR coded

Lincoln is set to become interactive and be the first city that is going to have their shops fully QR coded.

But what is a QR Code? They are a little black and white box that looks like an alternative version to a barcode. You may have seen them on advertisements, products and in some shops. The city is becoming the first to be fully QR coded with shops displaying the codes.

They will let the people of Lincoln and visitors to the city scan the codes in front of a shop and the person’s phone will be redirected to a web page, which will display their opening times as well as letting customers in on special deals.

I spoke with Lincoln BIG’s chief executive Matt Corrigan, who was promoting the technology at Castle Square, to find out more about the development.
