LSJ TV: DevXS organiser looks to the future

Amateur software developers from universities around the country came to Lincoln at the weekend to take part in the first ever DevXS conference, aimed squarley at them.

The so called “hack-a-thon” allowed budding developers to get together and create software with the aim of aiding, as well as positively disrupting university life.

Some of the projects designed over a marathon 24-hour period included a national university library reference tool, as well as a mind controlled flying robot.

Joss Winn, one of the event organisers, believes that events like this will help towards bringing Lincoln out of the shadows of the technological landscape, and has welcomed claims that Lincoln should host the event yearly.

However, he also stated that it would be interesting to see what other locations across the country can produce.

LSJ News’ Oli Gibbons attended the event.
