LSJ TV: Inequality On Our Doorstep

With reducing poverty and inequality high on the City Council’s priority list, LSJ News visited one of the most deprived areas of Lincoln to find out what resident’s think should be done in their area.

Westwick Gardens is part of Moorland Ward, which has been consistently ranked as one of the most disadvantaged areas in the County.

Tara Ellis is 32 years old, has four children and says she’s in desperate need of a bigger house.

“We got a twelve-year old, a nine-year old and a six-year old all in one bedroom,” she said. “My eldest one starts Secondary (School) in September so he really needs his own space.”

Apart from the house being too small, Tara suffers from other problems. Windows that don’t shut properly and litter blowing into the garden are just a couple of examples of her struggles.
