Cheerleading is a sport that is often associated with blonde girls, short skirts and sparkly pom-poms. However, this year the Lincoln Jets boys are slashing the stereotype and proving that it’s not just for girls.

The club’s coaches have been encouraging more men to join the team following last year’s success at the National ‘I-Cheer’ competition. Strength and height are key qualities that the male members can offer to the side, and it gives added confidence to the other girls – particularly the flyers.

Christine Diffey went along to see how the boys are doing.
