Winter has well and truly arrived with heavy snow falling across the country. The east of England has been worst hit, with reported heavy snow in Newcastle, Yorkshire and East Anglia.
This is the earliest there has been widespread snow in 17 years, with up to 10cm falling in parts of Scotland. This cold snap is expected to last for up to a fortnight and the MET Office predict temperatures will drop as low as -5 degrees.
There has been some reported snow in Lincolnshire, Lincoln still remains snow free but light snow showers are expected in the city today. However roads in and around Lincoln are icy and motorists are being urged to take extra care.
The snow may cause problems for The University of Lincoln’s open day on Saturday, November 27th. The severe weather may affect the amount of people able to get to Lincoln, with up to 3,000 people expected at the event, however it is likely many will keep away to avoid being stuck due to the possible snow. This in turn may damage the amount of university applicants who will choose Lincoln as a place to study.
