A new tea room with its own sweet shop has opened on Boultham Park Road.
Smiths Tea Room took its place in the former Up the Junxion charity shop yesterday with many visitors coming in to sample the wide array of savoury and sweets available.
Having previously run Up the Junxion, the owners were forced to close down after massive overhead costs made trading no longer manageable, but have now returned with a new idea and a new business.
Julie Smith, co-owner of the tea shop, said they wanted to provide a different kind of experience to Lincoln.
“We want to offer the classic tea room experience with afternoon tea and cafe treats, but we also wanted to offer something different to the city with a sweet shop as well.”
“Even though we only opened yesterday, we have been very busy and the feedback we’ve received from customers has been fantastic, so we hope it continues that way.”
The business is owned by Luke Sleight, who owns Junxion Hairdressing and has been a business owner in the Boultham area for 20 years, and Matt Smith.
Matt said “We try to cater to everyone here and any special dietary requirements or allergies will be made a priority for anyone who wishes to try anything on offer.”
“We offer light lunches such as sandwiches and tea cakes, sweets and cakes for children, and of course plenty of hot and cold drinks. So there will be something for everyone.”
“All of our food is locally sourced and produced with our cakes being from Custom Bakes, which were very popular at our last business.”
Smiths Tea Room will be open to guests from 8:30am to 4pm on weekdays, 9am to 4pm on Saturdays and 9am to 1pm on Sundays.
