Despite current restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Nottinghamshire residents are working together to continue celebrations accordingly with social distancing in mind.

Community officer Lee Sampson, event coordinator for Nottinghamshire’s village Bottesford, feels it is a great opportunity to boost morale and bring the community together in this dark and uncertain time.

“We still wanted to have a classic street party, VE Day is something to be celebrated, especially it’s 75th anniversary. With everyone being shut indoors for most of the day, it’s nice to encourage the community to celebrate with us – even if everyone will be keeping to their own front garden instead.”

Next Friday, May 8 2020, marks 75 years since the Allied victory of the Nazis and the end of World War Two.
