Rainbows are spreading lockdown joy

Have you noticed rainbows in your street?

Rainbows have been appearing in windows across Lincolnshire over the last week. Taking various forms they have been painted, drawn or printed on paper and even painted directly onto the glass.

Originally started in Italy as a way to brighten up windows during the coronavirus lockdown, the trend is spreading across the world on social media. People of all ages are encouraged to join in and put their own creations up in their front windows.

As lockdown in the UK permits one outdoor form of exercise a day, the rainbows have been cheering people up on walks and runs.  Some have added messages of support for the NHS to their rainbow to offer thanks.

Sharon Clarke, a teacher from Spalding said: “It is a wonderful way to show we still have community spirit. It brightens up the dark situation with the coronavirus and is a way to show unity across the county.”

A Facebook group called #Fromyourwindow-Lincolnshire has over five thousand members in which people upload their own creations and share ideas.

The video shows a lovely selection of rainbows sent into LSJ News this week.
