Road works are costing Lincoln shop owners their sales

Nuccio Scumaci, a Monk Road business owner says his business has been affected by the traffic disruption.

Local stores in the city are blaming road works for their poor sales during the festive period.

Business owners across Lincoln said that the road improvements across the city has had a major effect on the flow of traffic, especially the one on the East West Link road.

This disruption caused a major drop in the number of footfalls around the shopping area as people try to avoid the difficulty of navigating through the road works to get to a shop.

Small businesses are worried as they rely heavily on Christmas sales to pull through during the quieter times.

Nuccio Scumaci from Hair by Gino, on Monks Road said: “It has affected my business about 10% now and it has been about six weeks since they started.

”Especially in my business as it is a morning trade and it has also affected the evening trade when people have been trying to get to work and coming back from work.”
