Two years have passed since the first lockdown, Lincoln residents opens up about life after the pandemic

On March 23rd 2020, Prime Minister Boris Johnson first addressed the nation about coronavirus, advising that we should all “stay at home” under a national lockdown.

Approaching the pandemic’s two year anniversary, has life really returned back to normal after the ease of all covid restrictions just a couple of weeks ago?

Two Lincoln residents have opened up about losing loved ones from covid.

Chrissy Hollingsworth (56) lost her husband Steve (59) in March 2021 after he contracted coronavirus whilst staying in hospital.

Chrissy Hollingsworth with her Husband Steve who passed away last year. She’s now trying to rebuild her life.

“Before catching covid, Steve was relatively stable,” said Chrissy.

“We was my soulmate.”

Steve was also Chrissy’s carer after giving up his own business in 2009 to take care of his wife full time.

Another life-long Lincoln resident, Diana Coy, lost her partner Mark in September 2020. Shortly after that, she lost her job.

“Life is a bit of a struggle becoming a single parent again and losing my job and struggling to find another,” said Diana.

“The whole family got covid and my partner developed pneumonia, after the two week isolation he said he didn’t feel right.”

Two weeks later, Mark passed away.

“Luckily me and my children are fine, but my daughter still has long covid,” said Diana.

Fast forward to 2022, cases of coronavirus have began to rise yet again, with 582 positive tests recorded last week in Lincoln.
