Schoolboy wins Sports Personality Award

An eleven year old golfer from Boston has won a top award at this year’s Active Lincolnshire’s Awards.

Archie Qualtrough won Sports Personality of The Year as well as Young Sportsman of The Year in recognition of his success.

On the night Archie spoke of the hard work he puts into training. He said: “I train everyday for about two hours. If not hitting balls then I am doing gym work to build up my strength and fitness.”

The event which took place on 1 November at the Lincolnshire showground, celebrated the success of sporting achievements across Lincolnshire. It helps the organisation, Active Lincolnshire, to reach their goal of encouraging 20,021 more people to become more active by 2021.

Three-hundred-and-fifty people from clubs, businesses and schools attended the event to recognise talent from across the county. Other award  categories included Young Sportswoman of the Year, the Active Change Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
