Household brands are disappearing from Tesco shelves after a dispute with Unilever.

Its believed that the Europe-based goods manufacturer Unilever has been pressing to charge Tesco ten per cent more for its products.

The supermarket has refused to pay, and Unilever has stopped its deliveries to Tesco stores around the country.

Goods such as Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, Colmans mustard and Lynx body spray are already labelled ‘out of stock’ on the Tesco website. But it’s Marmite being pulled from shelves that Twitter is chirping about, with the the hastag #marmitegate being the top trend this lunchtime.

Several more supermarkets, including Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and ASDA, have reportedly begun negotiations with Unilever over prices of products.
