Lincoln locals The Rills have recently been booked as one of the acts to appear at this summers BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend.

The indie band will join the likes of headliner’s Ed Sheeran, AJ Tracey and Anne-Marie at this year’s online festival happening over May 29-30.

Playing as part of BBC Introducing, the trio have recorded a live version of their soon to be released single World Leader, set to be one of the tracks from their forthcoming EP as frontman Mitch Spencer reveals in his interview with us.

Over the pandemic they have become a massive hit on the popular app Tik Tok, creating comedy skits that have now earned them up to 3.5 million likes. This has not only created waves in their hometown of Lincoln but made them a threat to be reckoned with across the globe.

Praising their recent Tik Tok fame, Spencer later went on to say: “it’s been so vital and it’s kind of how we’ve grown our audience so rapidly.”

While Spencer would not reveal the exact date the new EP would be released, it will mark their first outing since last years single Stardog.
