The spectacular Lincolnshire Jazz Week is set to return for another year, with events starting Friday 3rd May.

Lincolnshire’s annual Jazz Week is set to take stage from Friday 3rd May until Friday 10th May, with hundreds expected to spectate.

There will be 15 performances across the week from 74 professional musicians, presented in 12 different venues across the county, including: The Blue Room, Lincoln; Grantham Guildhall Arts Centre; Terry O’Toole Theatre, North Hykeham; and Lincoln Cathedral.

The recent winner of the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year, saxophonist Xhosa Cole, will join Lincoln’s Stevie Smith and his Trio to begin the festival, appearing at LPAC’s Zing Bar on Friday 3rd May.

The entrance to The Blue Room at The Lawn, Lincoln, where a number of the performances will be held.

Other performances will include:

Geoff Gascoyne, Alan Barnes, Tom Cawley, Sebastiaan de Krom and Dennis Rollins MBE  on the Blue Room stage on Tuesday 7th May before delivering the specially commissioned ‘Byrd meets Bird’ concert at the Lincoln Cathedral on Wednesday 8th May, alongside the Cathedral Choir and Musical Director Aric Prentice.

On Thursday 9th May singer Tina May and The Andrew Wood Trio will take to stage in the Grantham Guildhall Arts Centre.

And the Jazz Week will end on Friday 10th May with The Suzanne Mellard Quartet appearing in the popular Caffe Portico, Lincoln and Funky Organ playing in Bar 67 at the Lincoln Hotel.

Stephen Gillard, Artistic Director at The Blue Room in Lincoln said he is very much looking forward to the event. He said: “I think there is an active committed Jazz scene in Lincoln” and he and the team are keen to offer more events, saying: “we would like to establish a Blues and Folk event of a similar style.”

General admission tickets for the events are priced at £14, for Jazzpac members they are priced at £12 and student entry is priced at £7.
