The University Health Centre has announced that the contract to provide GP services has unexpectedly ended at short notice.

However, Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and NHS England have worked together to maintain the current services and keep disruption to a minimum.

Many of the existing GPs, nursing and practice management staff will continue to provide their usual care as Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) has agreed to manage the practice until the end of September 2016.

When asked why the contracts ended so abruptly the Health Centre declined to comment.

However, in a letter addressed to students at the University of Lincoln the CCG said:

“The CCG is confident that LCHS can give patients a high standard of quality care. Their aim is to provide a seamless transfer of services and the change to a new provider will not affect the day-to-day healthcare you can expect from the team.

“A process is underway to try to secure longer term services for patients of the University Health Centre from October 2016, which will provide greater stability for both patients and staff at the practice.”

The CCG has asked patients to continue using the surgery as normal.
