University of Lincoln Student Wellbeing offers new ways of supporting students during lockdown

The University of Lincoln’s Student Wellbeing team has started to offer more services to students during lockdown to help them cope with these particularly lonely times.

They have mostly gone online to limit face-to-face interactions and have conducted meetings and counselling sessions via phone calls and other platforms such as Microsoft Teams, but with some opportunities for face-to-face sessions.

They have taken this idea from the NHS so that if students don’t believe they’ll benefit as much from Student Wellbeing’s services online, there’s still an option available to them face-to-face.

Adam Brown, a member of student wellbeing said: “We’ve gone online first, not online only. We’ve looked at entry into the service and so we’ve put all of our contact details out but we’ve also introduced an online enquiry form which is very popular.”

The online enquiry form sends a direct email to a member of the Student Wellbeing team who can then help someone with their issue.

Student Wellbeing have previously held workshops on a number of issues such as anxiety, confidence, relationships and resilience and they have already posted them online as an interactive 4-week course so anyone can access them if they need some advice about an issue they might have.

Adam Brown says: “It’s really important we try and connect people at the moment, especially if they’re isolating, whether that be on campus or at home and we hope that our services can help with this.

Student Wellbeing are here to support any student with any problems they may face. If you’re worried about anything at all please don’t hesitate to send us an email or give us a ring.”
