YouTube organises free online film festival to raise money for coronavirus relief efforts

YouTube has announced that it will be hosting a free online international film festival to raise money for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

We Are One: A Global Film Festival will take place on the streaming site between May 29 and June 7 and will feature programming by Cannes Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival, and BFI London Film Festival, among others.

The festival will be showing feature films, shorts, documentaries, music, and more.

Many film festivals set to take place this year such as South by Southwest (SXSW), Tribeca, and Cannes have been postponed or cancelled, with the future of upcoming festivals like Toronto and Venice looking uncertain.

In March, BFI Flare: London LGBTIQ+ Film Festival was moved online due to the pandemic, which gave audiences the opportunity to watch the festival’s 2020 programme at home through BFI Player.
