Imps Game Postponed

Lincoln City’s league two fixture against Oxford City has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

The match, which was due to be played on Saturday, is now the third game in a row the Imps have had called off after Tuesday’s F.A Cup replay against opponents Hereford United became the second in four days to fall victim to the weather.

Despite the effort of a number of fans to clear snow from the pitch, it is believed the main problem stemmed from one area of the pitch that is permanently shaded from sun in Winter. The streets immediately surrounding Sincil Bank are also considered too dangerous and would be a hazard to any fans visiting the stadium.

The Imps’ training ground pitch also remains frozen forcing the players to train on the 3G astro turf at the stadium. The players have had limited training in the past two weeks due to the freezing conditions, with most days being spent working on fitness in the gym.

The weather in Lincoln is predicted to improve over the next few days and with the advantage of now being able to train outside, City will hope they can be well prepared for the rescheduled F.A Cup game against Hereford United on Tuesday. Kick off is 19:45.
