Lincoln’s American Football team have scored their first points of the 2025 season, despite yet another heavy loss.
The Lincolnshire Bombers have broken their 2025 duck with kicker Tom Shaw registering a late field goal.
The side are now targeting their next fixture against Leigh as a must win opportunity after a “brutal” first three matches.
The Bombers hosted title favourites, Leicester Panthers at the Memorial Hall Park in North Hykeham on Sunday. Despite losing 3-40, the hosts showed strong character throughout, forcing the Panthers to wait until the second quarter to break the deadlock.
Adam Simeoni – offense – heaped praise on to his team after the match: “The mentality of the team has been fantastic, even in difficult situations.”
When talking of the sides struggle to score points in the previous two matches, Simeoni talked of it as being a: “Mental barrier overcome,” for the offensive side of the team.
The visitors gained momentum through the second quarter, going in to half time 28 points up. Through a brave second half defence from the Bombers limited Leicester’s points scoring and were even able to grab some points of their own.

Lincolnshire’s first points of the season were ironically the first points Leicester Panthers have conceded in their 2025 campaign, highlighting the strength of opponent that the Bombers were up against.
Looking forwards, Simeoni picked out the side’s next match against Leigh Miners as a good opportunity for the sides first win of the season.
The player lauded the opposition, emphasising the hard task that the Bombers were up against: “These are a good side, they’re going to probably win Division Two this year.”
Simeoni feels confident that his side can build on this strong display and targeted a second-place league finish as a goal to work towards.
Team mate Ross Wheatley – defence – echoed the sentiment and said he felt as though his side had put on a strong display against a difficult opposition: “For us to stand like we did against this team today was a massive effort.”
Wheatley talked of the mental struggle the sides offense had been facing, prior to this match and said it was: “massive,” for the side to get points on the board on this occasion.
