Officers from the Lincolnshire Cyber Crime Unit have been promoting internet safety at the University of Lincoln.
Cyber Protect Officer, PC Luke Casey said: “We need this because people may not understand how private information gets on the internet.”
The officers spent the day educating students on data breaches and making them aware of how personal information can easily be stolen.
PC Casey added: “Information is lost, and then is sold online to criminals who will then use that information to target you specifically.”
