Local music festival Beyond the Woods are running a competition for up-and-coming artists to open their ‘Good Karma Club’ stage at the festival this August.

The competition, on the Beyond the Woods instagram page this Thursday, will be judged by Radio 1 presenter, Abbie McCarthy and singer-songwriter, Alfie Templeman.

Prospective entrants should send in clips or examples of their music to the festivals social-media accounts on Thursday, 27 May.

The winner will open Abbie’s ‘Good Karma Club’ Friday night main-stage headlined by BBC Sound of 2021 long-listed artist, Alfie Templeman.

Festival organiser, Joe Davies told LSJ news, “If you look at the big festivals with huge headliners they all have to come from somewhere.

“There are hundreds and thousands of incredible new artists out there. And although some get some great opportunities there are limited opportunities for new artists.

“Thats how the festival started, I played in a band and there wasn’t a local festival to play so we accidentally started one ourselves.”

Beyond the Woods takes place between 6-8 August at Stourton Woods near Horncastle.
