There was an oil spill today on Steep Hill, causing people to slip over.
Grit was put over the oil in an attempt to make it safe to walk on, however due to the weather conditions, it was being washed away almost as soon as it was put down. Cones were also set up to cordon off the worst areas on the High Street as the oil had spilled down as far as House of Fraser.
The spill has now been cleaned up so conditions on Steep Hill and the High Street are no longer treacherous.
