Lincoln is a city rich in military history, from the birthplace of the tank to being nicknamed Bomber County in World War Two. The Century of Valour exhibition at The Collection on Danes Terrace celebrates the County’s extensive aviation gallantry over the last 100 years.
Displaying stories and artefacts from World War One, World War Two and the Cold War, it is the Victoria Cross, awarded to Wing Commander Guy Gibson, that takes centre stage in this walk through time.
With rarely told stories from the Cold War and previously unseen memorabilia from World War Two, alongside the tales of service animals such as Buster the Springer Spaniel and Billy the pigeon, there is something for everyone at this exhibit.
A guestbook that sits at the entrance to the exhibition allows visitors to leave their own stories and comments about the displays:
