With Easter being around the corner and the kids being off soon and desperately in need of entertainment, it is time to spend some time planning our Easter holidays. Fear not if you haven’t started thinking about what’s out there to visit, we’ve got you covered with a top 5 of fun events in and near the city centre of Lincoln.

1. Arts Festival for Children: Eggcite!

Over the course of the Easter holidays, you can enjoy various activities hosted by venues such as The Collection, New Theatre Royal, Lincoln Drill Hall, The LPAC, Lincoln Cathedral and Terry O’Toole Theatre. Activities are suitable for young and old.

2. Lincoln Castle’s 950th anniversary: The Conqueror’s Castle

Lincoln Castle will be organising The Conqueror’s Castle to celebrate the Castle’s 950th anniversary. You can experience William the Conqueror’s triumphal return to Lincoln Castle 950 years ago on March 31st. The audience will be able to meet ‘the King’ when he comes around to inspect his castle. The event will take place this weekend between 11am and 4.30pm.

3. Panto: Alice in Wonderland

The all favourite to go to for a good laugh with the whole family, is a panto. This Easter, Lincoln New Theatre Royal has Alice in Wonderland on the programme. The all-round family entertainment will be a bit different than a regular panto as it will be more family friendly. All in all, a nice traditional play for the kids, according to marketing assistant Rebecca Fallon, with the parents not being left out as “there are a lot of throwback songs in there so parents can enjoy it as much.” Prices are from £18 for adults and £10 for the kids.

4. Easter at Lincoln Cathedral

From the 25th March, which marks Palm Sunday, you can visit Lincoln Cathedral for Holy Week. In that week the Cathedral hosts a series of services, at no charge, to remember the last week of Jesus’ life. Rounding off with Easter Day on the 1st April. The programme includes a sung Eucharist and Festal Evensong and Procession.

5. Mad Hatter’s Tea Party

A simple afternoon tea can get quite boring after a while, especially if you have kids. Lincoln Cathedral is hosting a fun tea party where your kids can meet the Mad Hatter and his friends. Not only can you get stuffed on treats, but there are loads of activities you can participate in. Tickets are going at £15 per person.
