Lincoln City fans can help the club come top of the ‘Planet League’ in a competition which aims to make clubs more environmentally friendly.
The club is working with fans in a variety of green tasks battling with 75 other league clubs to become the Planet League champion. At present the Imps are third in the table, with Northampton at the top followed by Manchester United.
Luke Thornhill, media communications manager at Lincoln City FC, said “It’s an engaging module and it sets goals for people aimed from kids to adults.”
He adds “This is a passion project for the club. We have a green team that on a regular basis look at how we can be more sustainable as club.”
“You’ve really got to work as a team to score goals and do well in the tournament.”
Planet League is a five-week (October 10th – 7th November) online tournament where football fans score goals for their club by completing green activities.
Imps fans can help their team by doing things like eating meat-free meals, driving less, and filling up reusable bottles with tap water.
Why not sign up and join thousands of other families who are having fun and doing their part?
Every week has a different focus, such as energy, food, or travel, and the club with the most active supporters wins the Planet League Cup.
Supporters who become the highest goal scorer for Lincoln City will have a chance to win a signed shirt and a football. And the school with the most goals will receive a visit from some of the City players.
Alice Carter, head of healthier communities at Lincoln City Foundation, said “Lincoln City has a fantastic opportunity to play virtual matches against teams from across the football league thanks to Planet League.”
She adds “This year, I’m looking forward to helping the Imps score more goals, and hopefully lead Lincoln to the champions.”
“I can’t wait to see how Imps fans and the community engage and make an impact in this competition.”
