Parts of the county are now benefiting from superfast broadband as the onlincolnshire project marks the success of providing the service to almost 75,000 homes.
The service who are implementing the upgrade, are currently ahead of schedule and is aiming to cover 95% of premises in Lincolnshire with higher internet speeds.
However, the scheme still has another 75,000 homes and businesses left to reach by the end of next March before it finishes.
It is hoped most of Lincolnshire will then experience speeds of 300 megabytes per second as opposed to the much slower speed of 12 mbs.
Stephen Brookes who is overseeing the implementation of the infrastructure and is the Programme Manager for Broadband Rollout at Lincolnshire County Council said: “There is a huge amount of interest and not unsurprisingly from the rural areas who suffer from pretty poor speeds at the moment. The interest really is out there and we are really pushing this to deliver.”
He added: “There are constraints on the technology and in our ability to provide superfast broadband to everybody, you know if you are living miles and miles away it is very difficult.”
