The state of student accommodation

Like all homeowners, students face issues with their properties. Some of these problems can be more material, such as lack of heating or noisy housemates, while others can be serious issues, such as burglaries, bed bugs or even rodents.

Statistics from Save the Student have reported that the East Midlands is below the national average in a number of areas, although they also sit above it in others. The full report discusses a number of problems across the country and the effect they have on students, for example how students pay their rent and when they start looking for houses.

The East Midlands also falls in line with the national average with regards to deposits, as 15% of students nationally struggled to get their money back compared to 14% in the East Midlands.
