Stone and flint weapons thought to be around 11,000 years-old have been uncovered at the University of Lincoln.

Archaeological and heritage researchers from Allen Archaeology found artifacts from the Mesolithic period in a 25m by 15m trench behind the Siemens Engineering Hub.

The heritage experts were brought in to carry out an excavation prior to the building work of the new Isaac Newton building at the Brayford Pool campus.

Former Time Team presenter Carenza Lewis said: “The excavation shows now that the flint finds aren’t tailing off.”

Jessica Ward has the full report.
