Lincoln United have secured their place in the play-offs following a 3-1 win over Rugby last night.

The Whites secured their position in the Evo-Stik Division One playoffs despite setbacks early in the match. Rugby’s Mitch Piggon scored the first goal of the game seventeen minutes in putting United 1-0 down.

Jake Gibson scored the equaliser for The Whites which was quickly followed by another from Matt Cotton bringing the score to 2-1 in Lincoln United’s favour.

This result, and the 1-0 defeat Chasetown suffered to Stocksbridge Steels, secured the Whites place in the play-offs next week.

White’s manager, Dave Frecklington, said the team will take it easy heading into Saturdays clash with Chasetown and hope to enjoy the match.
