Lincolnshire Police are asking residents in the West End in the city of Lincoln to be extra vigilant when it comes to securing their homes.

Lincolnshire Police are warning residents of the West End area of the city to be vigilant following a series of break-ins.

A number of reports have been made to the force in recent weeks regarding overnight break-ins, however the police are still looking for possible links between each of the incidents.

David Devine, 20, a Film and Television student at the university who lives on Carholme Road, Lincoln, recently had his home broken into.

He said: “I was sitting in my bedroom and I had my window open slightly. I went to the toilet and was only gone for 2 or 3 minutes.

“When I came back the window was really far open and I couldn’t find my laptop, so I checked downstairs, but when it wasn’t there either I stated to panic.

“I didn’t quite believe it at first, but once I did I went through a range of emotions.

“I lost a lot work on my laptop that I hadn’t backed up, so I was very upset.”

Judith Kent from Lincolnshire Police said: “It’s always this time of year with the darker nights when the break-ins most commonly occur.

“We want to get the message out to people that they need to be sensible, lock their doors, and keep their valuables in a safe place.”

Anyone who has any information about any burglaries in the area is asked to contact Lincolnshire Police on the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
