Lincoln United romped to a 6-0 win over Kidsgrove Athletic to sustain their promotion push in the Evostik Northern Premier Division One South league.

Two goals from Daniel Brooks and one apiece for Kallum Smith, Scott Ruthven, Andrew Hutchinson and substitute Elliot Broughton helped the Whites to victory.

The game started slowly but out of nowhere, United found themselves ahead on nine minutes.

Jordan Lemon’s trickery drew a foul inside the box and Daniel Brooks dispatched the resulting penalty into the bottom corner.

Chances were few and far between after the penalty with the Whites content on halting Kidsgrove’s aerial game.

But with just their second effort on goal, full back Kallum Smith marauded forward and shot low and hard into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.

After half time, Lincoln United once again showed the impetus and Scott Ruthven added to the score with a composed finish.

Substitute Elliot Broughton came on and linked well with left back Smith, resulting in a fourth for the Whites.

Kidsgrove offered next to nothing up front and winger Ross Davidson was having a frustrating afternoon leading to a string of late challenges.

United were still intent on playing their own game though and Andrew Hutchinson added a fifth before Daniel Brooks scored his second and their sixth overall.

6-0 was the final score which leaves Lincoln United eighth and three points off the play-offs.
